Glashütte Original SeaQ

Dive deeper into the Original

Glashütte Original presents fascinating new SeaQ models, expanding its offer for sports divers, water-sports athletes and adventurers of all kinds. Cool stainless steel and intense blue lend the new timepieces a striking, fresh look. A special highlight of the still- young line is an exquisite newcomer whose rotating bezel sparkles with brilliant-cut diamonds and a sapphire. Here comes the Glashütte Original SeaQ.

Exquisite timepieces with a history

In 2019, Glashütte Original introduced not only the SeaQ diver’s watch but the new “Spezialist” collection at the same time. The latter takes up the idea of instrument watches, drawing on a rich legacy of particularly accurate and robust timepieces developed to determine the time and location on land, water and in the air. Inspired by the first diver’s watch made in Glashütte, the Spezimatic Type RP TS 200 from 1969, the manufactory renews its diver’s watch tradition.

With these new models, Glashütte Original adds two stainless steel variations to its existing line of diver’s watches. Applied Arabic numerals and indexes with Super-LumiNova inlays ensure optimal contrasts. The hands, too, feature generous luminous inlays.

Un auténtico reloj de buceo

The first model is fitted with a galvanic blue dial featuring a delicate sunray finish. The counter-clockwise rotating bezel is fitted with a deep blue scratch- resistant ceramic inlay that takes up the blue hue of the dial.

This model also proves convincing thanks to the clearly perceptible minute-click and the Super-LumiNova highlight on the triangle marking the start of the dive. This elegant timepiece was tested for conformance with DIN and ISO standards and meets the most rigorous German and international quality standards in terms of water resistance, legibility, shock resistance, resistance to salt-water corrosion and many other criteria.

The second model is particularly enchanting: the glamorous timepiece features a rotating bezel studded with 47 brilliant-cut diamonds and a sapphire, ensuring a dazzling appearance. The sapphire on the bezel assumes the function of the triangle mark, which is normally used on diver’s watches to set the start time of a dive.

Since the blue gemstone replaces the luminous marking on the bezel, this version does not conform to the DIN and ISO standards, which require that the bezel be equipped with a triangle inlaid with luminous material. It goes without saying that all other criteria – in particular the water resistance and airtightness under over- and underpressure conditions – are thoroughly tested in-house, as are all SeaQ models, and conform to the standard for diver’s watches.

Reliable functionality and water resistance

Both timepieces feature an engraved case back, which is aligned and then secured in place with a threaded bottom ring. The engraving shows the trident maritime symbol, the Glashütte Original double-G and 20 waves, which represent the 20-bar water resistance.

Both models are powered by the manufactory’s Calibre 39- 11. Enclosed within a 39.5 mm stainless steel case, the automatic movement features a running time of 40 hours, a second-stop function and a date window at 3 o’clock.

The new SeaQ is available with three strap versions: a black rubber strap with relief pattern, a water-resistant blue nylon mesh strap and a stainless steel bracelet with 8-step fine adjustment mechanism. Two strap versions are available for the SeaQ models with diamond-studded bezels: a stable, flat stainless steel bracelet with fine adjustment mechanism and a robust blue nylon mesh strap ensure a secure fit on the wrist.

Glashütte Original celebrates the SIXTIES

Since 2018 the exceptional Sixties annual editions have been the source of great excitement in the world of watches. Following the extravagance of previous years, the 2020 annual edition turns to sublime elegance: cool glacier blue lends the new Sixties a profound but no less impressive appearance. Simultaneously with this model the German watchmaker introduces a new Sixties Chronograph in the same colour, presented for the first time in an annual edition.

GLASHÜTTE ORGINAL SIXTIES

Setting eyes on alpine scenery and majestic glaciers, it is difficult to resist their charms. They have an incomparable aura of clarity, peace and strength and take on some of the most beautiful colours that nature has to offer.

Glashütte Original’s watchmakers pay tribute to these moods with the elegant glacier blue of the new annual edition – and present two models that interpret the characteristic Sixties design in a discreet, yet powerful new way.

The cool look of the Sixties line, a classic from the Saxon watchmaker, underscores its versatile nature. The signature features of its 1960s design – the domed sapphire crystals, curved hands and characteristic Arabic numerals – reveal a charm of their own. Following silver, black, dark blue, green and orange, they are set off now by an glacier blue ground.

The new Sixties is powered by the Calibre 39-52 automatic movement, developed in-house, while the new Sixties Chronograph features the manufactory’s Calibre 39-34. Both models have a 40-hour power reserve. The three-hand model is presented in a 39 mm diameter polished stainless steel case, while the chronograph appears in
a 42 mm stainless steel case. The Sixties Chronograph is equipped with a central stop-second along with two inset auxiliary dials for the small second and 30-minute counter. The domed sapphire crystal case back on both models offers a clear view of each watch‘s finely finished movement with three-quarter plate, swan- neck fine adjustment, Glashütte stripe finish and skeletonised rotor with 21-carat oscillating mass.
