After their recent outstanding victories at Le Mans 2017, Nürburgring, in Mexico and in the USA, the Porsche Motorsport LMP1 teams came to Bahrein willing to confirm their supremacy over the championship. Finishing second and third at the last round of the FIA World Endurance Championship allowed Porsche to successfully and officially confirm both drivers’ and manufacturers’ world championship titles. Chopard takes great pride in being the official timing partner of Porsche Motorsport and congratulates the team for the successful return to WEC which started in 2014. Chopard presented the Superfast Power Control Porsche 919 HF Edition, produced in a 100-piece limited serie, and embodying a pure performance thanks to the Chopard high-frequency Calibre 01.11-M.

With two podium finishes at the last round in Bahrain, the Porsche LMP 1 Team bids a fond farewell to the FIA World Endurance Championship. Drivers Earl Bamber, Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley, who were crowned world champions two weeks ago, finished second in what was an incident filled and highly emotional 2017 finale. This year’s Le Mans winners dropped behind after an early incident but impressively fought back. The sister car, shared by Neel Jani, André Lotterer and Nick Tandy started from pole position but also suffered a set-back after a collision. Lotterer clocked the fastest race lap and finished in third position after six hours of racing.

With this race, one of the most successful chapters of Porsche’s motorsport history comes to an end. From 2015 to date, the Porsche LMP Team took three consecutive Le Mans outright victories plus three successive manufacturers’ world championship titles while Porsche 919 Hybrid drivers won the drivers’ world championship title on three occasions. Since the 919’s debut in 2014, the tally from 34 races is 17 wins with seven of them being one-two victories. Furthermore 20 pole positions and 13 fastest race laps were achieved.

Chopard proudly supported the Porsche Motorsport LMP 1 team from the 919’s debuts in 2014 as official timing partner. Perfectly in line with the performance targets of Porsche Motorsport, Chopard launched every year limited exclusive Superfast timepieces inspired by the Maison’s passion for racing and the Porsche 919 car in order to celebrate the partnership between two prestigious companies where craftsmanship and technology are at the heart of all developments.
