The Czapek exclusive «Ricochet» guilloché pattern takes the inspiration by an ancient design created by Francois Czapek in the 1850s. Its main characteristic and unique feature is the presence of a double focal point, unlike traditional guilloché patterns with only one focal point at the centre of the dial. The two focal points, corresponding to the two iconic Czapek subdials – indicating small seconds and power reserve – create a fascinating “wave interferences” in the dial.

Unveiled for the rst time in Baselworld 2017, the Guilloché “Ricochet” features a bombé guilloché dial in a special gold, silver, palladium and platinum alloy handcrafted by one of the best Swiss ateliers, Metalem. It blends both modern and traditional approaches. For example “Czapek” has been printed directly on the dial rather than engraved in a “cartouche”, to give a touch of modernity together with indexes and one arabic numeral, while the dial has been “bombé” like the pocket watches’ cases.

The Quai des Bergues Guilloché 2017 collection comes in 3 di erents colours: Aqua Blue, Sea Salt Grey and the unique piece Emperor Blue.

The Aqua Blue guilloché dial is proposed in a 42,5 mm XO steel case breaking the rules of traditional watchmaking: usually handcrafted Guilloché, one of the pinnacle of watchmaking craftsmanship, is reserved for Grandes Complications and precious material preventing many watch lovers to access to it.

The Quai des Bergues Guilloché Sea Salt Grey with its 1N White Gold case combined with the light grey guilloché dial is the most sophisticated and purest model in the line.

Last but not least, the unique piece Quai des Bergues Guilloché Emperor Blue heralds the birth of the “Emperor Blue”, an original nuance of the blue colour which perfectly matches with the 42,5 mm 5N Rose Gold Case and the Fleur-de-Lys hands. This model features an exquisite blue alligator strap with a special “two-tone patina” treatment giving the look of a shoe patina.

As with every Czapek Quai des Bergues time piece, the movement of the Guilloché models is the Calibre SXH1, a Haute Horlogerie proprietary mechanical hand-wound movement developed by Czapek in collaboration with Chronode. The movement is magni cently nished with double open ratchets, sandblasted bridges, manual anglage and blued screws.

Inspired by Francois Czapek’s search for the aesthetic perfection, the Quai des Bergues Guilloché models o er an extraordinary and seductive blend of watchmaking excellence, craftsmanship and beauty.

26 Quai des Bergues Guilloché pieces will be manufactured in 2017 and will be available from September 2017.
